The clean, straightforward design of the Chevy Blazer 2020 is let down only by the turbo model’s excessive add-ons.

The Chevy Blazer 2020 isn’t close to luxurious, but it’s hard to beat for interior space to hold both people and their gear. The Chevy Blazer 2020 offers a pleasantly high driving position, lots of front elbow room, and a dashboard far enough away to make the interior feel spacious. The upright shape and low window line make the interior airy and light and give excellent outward visibility.

The Chevrolet Blazer is set to return for 2020 with a sporty new look. Last sold back in 2005, the nameplate will be reborn as a midsize crossover positioned between the Equinox and Traverse. Three trims will be offered: Base, RS and Premier.

The exterior of the Blazer features a deeply sculpted look with a new tiered grille design unlike most of the brand’s other SUVs. Headlights are mounted high and narrow, and a wide stance contributes to a fairly aggressive overall feel. The new RS trim gets a unique blacked-out look inspired by the Camaro.

Inside the cabin, the vehicle will seat up to 5 passengers in a two-row layout. An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system will support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as WiFi. Noteworthy interior features include a sliding rear seat, an available panoramic roof and a new cargo management system that uses a rail system mounted in the trunk.

Under the hood, the Blazer will come standard with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 193 hp with 188 lb-ft of torque. A 3.6-liter V6 is optional with 305 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque. Both will come with a 9-speed automatic transmission and stop/start to boost efficiency. Chevy says the vehicle will tow up to 4,500 lbs with the V6 and offer special camera views for hitching a trailer.

In terms of safety, the Blazer will get advanced features like adaptive cruise control and a rear camera mirror in higher trims. Although we think it’s likely the model will also get auto emergency braking and lane departure warning as optional equipment, Chevy has not yet announced full official specs.

Pricing & Release Date

The 2020 Chevy Blazer will go on sale in early 2020.

Official pricing will start at $29,995 including destination for the Blazer L, giving it a $995 advantage over competitors like the 2019 Ford Edge SE ($30,990). Pricing for the other trims has not yet been announced.

Although a sub-$30k base price seems enticing, we think it’s worth noting that Chevy often touts cheap base trims that end up being excluded from factory incentives. It’s too early to tell if that will be the case with the Blazer, but it’s a strong possibility.

Competitors will include the Ford Edge, Nissan Murano and Hyundai Santa Fe.

The best value in Chevy Blazer 2020 is a base model with manual gearbox, but it’s still decently priced after adding fancy audio, leather, and a moonroof.
